10 July Sun-tan without sunbath and harmful UV radiation. Is it really possible?
Although you know that protective sun creams do not provide maximum protection, you still want to have a sun-tan? We have good news. Scientists have created a drug that provides a sun-tan with no damaging UV radiation involved.
If you are asking yourself why the scientists try to innovate to provide a sun-tan instead of dealing with research on, for example, finding a drug for cancer, there is a good reason. In America every hour one person dies of malignant skin tumors, melanoma and radiation is the cause of 86% of melanoma. Nevertheless, many still avoid using protective sun creams against UV radiation, they even use sun-tan oil that further attracts the sun’s rays or they sunbathe in concentrated UV rays over a long period of time. And all because of a sun-tan.
For this reason, scientists have recently made a drug that stimulates the production of melanin, the dark pigment which is produced in the skin and whose main function is to protect the body from UV radiation. When the skin is exposed to UV rays in skin cells starts a chemical reaction that leads to the formation of melanin, the pigment that gives color to our skin, eyes and hair. Because of melanin, people living in warmer regions have darker skin and hair.
Until now, the newly discovered drug was tested only on mice and samples of skin and it has been shown to have more efficiency in protecting against UV radiation than classical sun creams.
