Mexicans make fuel of the future of agave waste
Blue Agave is known as the base ingredient for tequila, Mexico’s national brand product, and could soon be used as an alternative source of energy. Using agave waste we could solve one of the world’s leading problems, the problem of global warming.
The most famous producer of tequila, company Herradura, is planning to convert waste generated during the production of this popular alcoholic beverage into biomass. This way, thousands of tons of agave waste could be used as a fertilizer or as an alternative fuel that produces energy by process of combustion. Biomass is considered to be the fuel of the future because it represents renewable energy source. Biomass will change the future of energy supply, it is less dependent on environmentally unfavorable and increasingly expensive fossil fuels.
