20 Jan B-FRESH: Innovation from the University won a mini-grant
B-FRESH, a patented innovation developed at the University of Belgrade, is the winner of a mini-grant awarded by the Serbia Innovation Fund.
B-FRESH team consists of researchers in the field of materials science from the Institute for Multidisciplinary Research, University of Belgrade. The team is dedicated to solving the problem of food waste, with a focus on organic producers, and this problem is not only financial but also environmental and humanitarian.
B-FRESH is a new packaging solution and a unique product in an active packaging market. The products are based on a biopolymer emulsion containing active components of antimicrobial and antioxidant action, which is applied in the form of spray on various materials for packaging fresh fruits and vegetables, thus extending the shelf life of food up to 100% without affecting their quality and endangers human health.
The team worked on the development of its business opportunity and cooperated with the team of the Center for Technology Transfer, and once again pointed out the huge potential of scientific research focused on the development of products that can be of great importance for the industry.
