26 Apr World Intellectual Property Day – Recognizing the contribution of innovators and researchers
World Intellectual Property (IP) Day celebrates an invaluable contribution that innovators and researchers have around the world.
From new drugs and materials to improved technological processes and communication, innovations make our lives healthier, safer and easier. Innovation is the force that knows no boundaries and that inverts problems in the progress of civilization. It pushes the boundaries creating new opportunities. These are the reasons for choosing “Innovation – Improving Lives” as this year’s theme.
World Day 2017 celebrates this creative force and explores how the remarkable innovations improve our lives; and how new ideas are helping tackle shared global challenges, such as climate change, health, poverty and the need to feed an ever-expanding population.
It is important to know that a support system for intellectual property exists and helps by attracting investments, rewarding creators, encouraging them to develop their ideas, and ensuring that their new knowledge is freely available.
